This afternoon, Governor J.B. Pritzker issued a "stay-at-home" order for the State of Illinois related to the COVID-19 pandemic. This order directs all Illinoisans to remain at home, tentatively, until 11:59 p.m. on April 7, 2020. This order includes many commonsense exemptions for people in the state. The necessities of everyday life are and will continue to stay available in Urbana. Businesses that provide these essential services will continue to operate in Urbana. The City of Urbana will continue to provide and support all workers and businesses in Urbana. City Building and Property Maintenance Inspections

A Notice from the City of Urbana Community Development Services, March 18, 2020

To whom it may concern,

This is an update on the current status of building and property maintenance inspections required by the City of Urbana:

Systematic Inspections: At this time the City of Urbana has suspended all non-essential inspections. These inspections include but are not limited to systematic inspections and reinspections.

Reinspections: Property owners and managers will be given a one month extension for correction of routine maintenance violations previously noted in any notice of violation letter issued by the City.

COVID-19 Related Emergency Order

Covid-19On Monday, March 16, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker released an executive order stating businesses that offer food or beverages for on-premises consumption – including restaurants, bars, grocery stores and food halls – must suspend services for in-person dining. However, the Executive Order allows these businesses to continue serving via drive-through, curbside pickup, and delivery services.

In response to the Governor’s executive order restricting on-premises consumption of food and beverage, Mayor Marlin has executed an emergency order to allow qualified bars and restaurants to deliver packaged alcohol in its original, sealed packaging for off-site, legal consumption.

March 21 Market IN the Square Cancelled

At this time The Urbana Business Association will intend to cancel the indoor Market IN the Square for the following dates:

  • Saturday, March 21

We were advised by the Champaign County Public Health District to not host a market this weekend. The health and safety of our guests, our participating vendors, and our staff is of utmost importance and is our top priority. Currently, we plan to assess each market individually and we will be complying with the recommendations of the C-U Health District and the CDC. For the rest of the market season, we will maintain our communication with the C-U Health District and The City of Urbana, and we will keep you all informed as those decisions are made on a weekly basis.
