Art at the Market

Date: July 9, 2016 - 8:00am to 12:00pm

Join the Urbana Public Arts Program on Saturday, July 9, 2016 for music and arts activities at Urbana's Market at the Square! Find us at the northwest corner of the market between 8:00am and 12:00pm. All programs offered are free, and no registration is needed.

From 8:00am to 12:00pm, Karissa M. will lead a workshop titled "Monster Rocks." Kids would create their own monsters from rocks, using materials such as paint and googly eyes. This is a simple activity that anyone from all ages could participate in! Karissa is an Urbana-based artist who creates mixed-media pieces using watercolor, ink, fabric, fur, wallpaper, and other found objects. At last year's Art at the Market, Karissa organized a flower pot-decorating event.

Also not to be missed, local favorite Bones Jugs will perform from 9:30am to 11:30am. The group offers a musical experience that they describe as "a 21st century throwback to 1920's ragtime, a new-agey jugband twist, and an indescribable sonic carnival."
