The City of Urbana has contracted with Illiana Construction from Urbana, Illinois to perform street maintenance on the following streets throughout the City of Urbana:

Beverly Dr – Lincoln Ave to Bradley Ave
Bradley Ave – East of Lincoln Ave to Coler Ave
Broadway Ave – Park St to North of Stebbins Dr
Coler Ave – Fairview Ave to North of Bradley Ave
Cottage Grove Ave – Main St to Philo Rd transition
Crestwood Dr – Lynn St to Cottage Grove Ave
Crystal Lake Dr – Broadway Ave to Cunningham Ave
Elm St – West of Dodson Dr to Dodson Dr
Fairlawn Dr – Anderson St to Cottage Grove Ave
Glover Ave – Washington St to Oregon St
Hawthorne Dr – Anderson St to Fairlawn Dr
Lynn St – Fairlawn Dr to North of Crestwood Dr
Pfeffer Rd – Washington St to Main St
Wabash Ave – Crestwood Dr to Washington St
Washington St – East of Dodson Dr to Pfeffer Rd
Webber St – Fairlawn Dr to Washington St

Due to weather constraints, this work is scheduled to be completed Friday, October 7th.

Smith Road Closure

The 2016 HMA Resurfacing Project has been awarded by the City of Urbana to Open Road Paving Company from Urbana, Illinois. The project award amount is $596,000. This project is being funded by a combination of the City Capital Replacement and Improvement Funds and Local Gas Tax Funds.

The project consists of pavement patching; curb and gutter removal and replacement; sidewalk ramp removal and replacement; pavement resurfacing; pavement marking; and other miscellaneous work on portions of Mumford Drive, Vine Street, Race Street, Smith Road and Main Street. Periodic lane closures can be expected on all the streets starting Friday, September 16, 2016 and ending Friday, October 28, 2016. The project is scheduled to be complete by October 28, 2016.

Smith Road between Main Street and University Avenue will be closed to through traffic starting at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, September 19, 2016 and ending 5:00 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2016, weather permitting, for pavement patching.

Urbana High School Homecoming Parade Route

The Urbana High School Homecoming Parade will take place on Friday, September 16, 2016. Race Street from Michigan Avenue to Iowa Street will be closed to through traffic beginning at 1:00 p.m. through the start of the parade at 3:00 p.m. The parade will end at approximately 4:00 p.m.

Traffic along the parade route will only be obstructed for the short time it takes for the parade to clear the area.

The route for the parade is as follows:

North on Race Street from Iowa Street to Washington Street
East on Washington Street to Race Street
North on Race Street to Main Street
East on Main Street to Vine Street
South on Vine Street to Washington Street
West on Washington Street to Broadway Avenue (into the High School parking lot)

East Elm Street Closure at Intersection with Maple Street

Weather permitting, East Elm Street will be closed at its intersection with Maple Street starting at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, September 12, 2016 until 3:30 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2016 for replacement of a water main.

Access will be maintained to properties on East Elm Street and Maple Street but no thru traffic will be permitted on at the intersection of East Elm Street and Maple Street.

No detour route will be provided for this intersection closure.

Motorists are encouraged to drive carefully through this and all construction areas. Thank you for your cooperation while this improvement is in progress.

Draft FY1516 Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER) Available for Public Review and Comment

The City of Urbana has completed the draft Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER) documenting programs and activities undertaken through its federally-funded affordable housing and community development programs during the year ending June 30, 2016. The draft CAPER will be available for public review and comment during the period beginning Friday, September 9, 2016 through Saturday, September 24, 2016. Flag Lowering Ceremony Street Closures

To commemorate the 15 year anniversary of 9/11, the Urbana Fire Department, in conjuction with the Urbana Police Department, will hold a flag lowering service to honor the victims, citizens, and public safety personnel who sacrificed their lives and safety on that day.

This event will take place at the Urbana City Building, located at 400 South Vine Street in Urbana, and will commence at 7:30 a.m. The public is welcome to attend.

In order to facilitate this ceremony, Vine Street will be closed between Illinois Street and Green Street from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.

East Green Street Closure at Intersection with Maple Street

Access will be maintained to properties on East Green Street and Maple Street but no through traffic will be permitted on East Green Street at its intersection with Maple Street

A detour route for East Green Street is provided via Urbana Avenue to High Street to Grove Street.

Goodwin Avenue Closure

Weather permitting, Goodwin Avenue will be closed between Main Street and Stoughton Street to thru traffic starting at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 until 3:30 p.m. Friday, September 9, 2016 for emergency telecommunications repair. Access will be maintained to properties on Goodwin Avenue but no thru traffic will be permitted on Goodwin Avenue between Main Street and Stoughton Street.

A detour route for Goodwin Avenue is provided via Stoughton Street to Harvey Street to Main Street.

South Country Squire Drive Street Closure

Weather permitting, South Country Squire Drive will be closed at its intersection with Squire Court starting at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2016 until 7:00 a.m. Monday, September 5, 2016 for replacement of a water main.

Access will be maintained to properties on South Country Squire Drive and Squire Court but no through traffic will be permitted on South Country Squire Drive at its intersection with Squire Court.

A detour route for South Country Squire Drive is provided via Hunter Street to East Rainbow View to Kinch Street. Motorists are encouraged to drive carefully through this and all construction areas.

U-Cycle Collection - Labor Day

Due to the Labor Day holiday U-Cycle collections will be delayed one day during the week of September 5. If your collection day is Monday it will be moved to Tuesday, and so forth for the remainder of the week.

M., in the second-floor conference room at the Urbana Public Works Center, 706 South Glover Avenue, Urbana, Illinois 61802.
