West Oregon Street Closure

Weather permitting; West Oregon Street will be closed to thru traffic between South Gregory Street and South Goodwin Avenue from 6:00 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2018 through 4:00 p.m. Saturday July 7, 2018 for removal of a tower crane by Custom Service Crane for the University of Illinois.

No thru traffic will be permitted on West Oregon Street between South Gregory Street and South Goodwin Avenue during the project. Access will be maintained to all properties along West Oregon Street.

Motorists are encouraged to drive carefully through this and all construction areas. Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation during this project.

Champaign County Freedom Celebration Parade Street Closures

On Wednesday, July 4, 2018, the following streets in Urbana will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for the Champaign County Freedom Celebration Parade:

  • Florida Avenue from the west City limits (Wright Street extended) to Busey Avenue
  • Lincoln Avenue from Florida Avenue to Green Street
  • Illinois Street from Lincoln Avenue to Goodwin Avenue
  • Gregory Street from Illinois Street to Oregon Street

U-Cycle Collection Schedule - Independence Day

Due to the Independence Day holiday on July 4, U-Cycle collections on the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday routes will be collected one day later.  The Wednesday U-Cycle collection route will be collected on Thursday, Thursday's collection on Friday, and so forth.  Please set recycling at the street curb by 7 a.m. to ensure collection.

Preference will be given to trees produced in fabric grow bags. All other selections will be by best price.

The City of Urbana will receive proposals to provide for 2,404 feet of 2-inch diameter force main cleaning.

The proposal document may be obtained from the Urbana Public Works Department, 706 South Glover Avenue, Urbana, IL, 61802.

Proposals will be received until 2:30 p.m. on July 6, 2018, at which time the proposals will be opened and the names and bids of the Proposers read publicly.

The City reserves the right to reject any or all proposals, and to waive irregularities or technicalities.

The City is seeking Letters of Interest to provide the City of Urbana with professional services to supplement City engineering staff with an engineering services consultant.

Professional services will include but not be limited to surveying, design engineering and construction observation of publicly maintained infrastructure such as but not limited to roadways, bridges and parking lots on an as-needed basis.
