Area Cities Respond to Illinois Region 6 - Tier 3 Mitigations

Residents Encouraged to Continue Supporting Local Businesses 

On November 17, Governor JB Pritzker announced that Tier 3 mitigations would be imposed statewide at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, November 20, 2020. 

Tier 3 enhanced mitigations that affect our various liquor license holders are summarized below:

City of Urbana Use of Force Policy Revision & Listening Sessions

On June 22, 2020, the City of Urbana affirmed by Resolution No. 2020-06-031R the “Ten Shared Principles” developed by the NAACP and Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police. The adoption agreement between the City of Urbana Police Department and the NAACP of Champaign County was signed September 17, 2020.

As a next step toward building greater trust in the community, the Urbana Police Department (UPD) will revise its Use of Force Policy to incorporate the “Ten Shared Principles”. The UPD is seeking community input on the policy during three public Listening Sessions on November 12 and 13, 2020.

HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT REPORT

The City of Urbana has completed the draft Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER) documenting programs and activities undertaken through its federally-funded affordable housing and community development programs during the year ending June 30, 2020. The draft CAPER will be available for public review and comment during the period beginning Monday October 26, 2020 through Tuesday, November 10, 2020.

The City of Urbana, Illinois seeks bids from qualified contractors to provide snow plowing services for City-owned parking lots identified in the bid documentation. The successful respondent shall provide the necessary equipment and personnel to perform the services in a professional manner consistent with customs and practices in the snowplowing industry.

The City of Urbana, Illinois seeks bids from qualified vendors for supply and delivery of  USL #2 dyed diesel fuel to the Landscape Recycling Center at 901 North Smith Road, Urbana, Illinois. Price quotes shall be for a two (2) year contract on the delivered price. Winterized USL #2 dyed diesel shall be supplied between November and April as needed

CHURCH STREET CLOSURE BETWEEN NORTH ORCHARD STREET AND NORTH BUSEY AVENUE

The Church Street Closure will be closed to thru traffic between North Orchard Street and North Busey Avenue from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 2020 for work at Carle Hospital MRI done by Quickway Rigging & Transfer, Inc.  No thru traffic will be permitted on Church Street between North Orchard Street and North Busey Avenue during the project. There will be a marked detour route to North Orchard Street to Fairview Avenue to North Busey Avenue. Motorists are encouraged to drive carefully through this and all construction areas.  Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation during this project. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MCORE PROJECT 5 ROAD CLOSURE - GREEN STREET FROM COLER AVENUE TO BIRCH STREET

Weather permitting: the construction area on Green Street will shift to between Coler Avenue and Birch Street and will be closed to thru traffic starting 7:00 a.m., Friday, September 11, 2020 until further notice for the reconstruction of Green Street as part of MCORE Project 5.  Local access and parking for properties on Green Street will be arranged via side streets and coordinated with individual property owners.  Duce Construction Company of Champaign, Illinois is the primary contractor.  

The Multimodal Corridor Enhancement Project (MCORE) Project will improve access for all modes of transportation on the Green Street corridor and provide direct connections from downtown Urbana through the University of Illinois campus to Champaign.  The project is funded by a combination of local funds and state Motor Fuel Tax funds.

NORTH WRIGHT STREET CLOSURE AT THE NORFOLK AND SOUTHERN RAILROAD CROSSING

NORTH WRIGHT STREET CLOSURE AT THE NORFOLK AND SOUTHERN RAILROAD CROSSING 

Weather permitting; North Wright Street will be closed to thru at the Norfolk and Southern Railroad Crossing from 6:00 a.m. Monday, September 14, 2020 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2020 to repair the railroad crossing by Norfolk and Southern. No thru traffic will be permitted on North Wright Street at the railroad crossing during the project. There will be a marked detour route to Hill Street to North Goodwin Avenue to West Park Street. Motorists are encouraged to drive carefully through this and all construction areas.  Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation during this project.
