2017 Sewer Lining Project

Date:
October 19, 2017 - 8:00am to November 3, 2017 - 5:00pm

The City of Urbana is lining more than 7,000 lineal feet of storm and sanitary sewer pipe to improve the integrity of both sewer systems. Beginning Thursday, October 19, 2017, Visu-Sewer of Missouri, LLC will be performing sewer cleaning and lining at various locations in Urbana. This work is expected to be completed by Friday, November 3, 2017.

The cured-in-place pipe lining process uses trenchless sewer construction technology that allows for the elimination of time consuming, expensive, and disruptive open excavations. The cured-in-place process provides for the insertion of a special liner inside the existing pipe in lieu of digging up and replacing the old pipe. The new liner creates a watertight, smooth-surfaced, structurally sound, and long-lasting pipe within the existing sewer.

Maps of the areas affected by sewer cleaning and televising are available at: http://www.urbanaillinois.us/node/6642
