Derecho or CrowdStrike - Urbana is On Top of It!!

This has been a crazy week in and around Urbana. Monday evening's storm - caused by the Derecho -  was destructive, and our Small City suffered because of it. However, we pulled together and worked hard to deal with the aftermath.

Then, this Friday morning, we all realized something was not right. Microsoft was/is out!

What caused the global Microsoft outages?

The issue was caused by a technical problem that global cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike said it had identified in its software and was working to resolve. CrowdStrike provides antivirus software to Microsoft for its Windows devices.

LOCALLY IN URBANA, we are in the process of creating a workaround for the City.

"We're so proud of our IT TEAM," City Administrator Carol Mitten said moments ago.
