Orchard Street Closure

Orchard Street from Elm Street to Green Street will be closed to traffic from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. today, Tuesday, December 2, for the emergency removal of a hazardous tree.

Pavement Testing on Various City Streets

The City of Urbana has contracted with Applied Research Associates, Inc. to perform pavement testing on the following City streets:



  • Vine Street – south of Washington Street to north of California Avenue

  • Washington Street – Walnut Street to west of Urbana Avenue

This work is scheduled to begin, weather permitting, Wednesday, December 3 and should be completed by Friday, December 5. Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times, however, periodic lanes closures are expected to occur during day light hours.

Closed: Request for Proposals: Carpet and Flooring Services (RFP #1415-05)

The City of Urbana is seeking proposals from qualified Contractors to provide carpet and flooring design and installation services at various municipal facilities on an as needed basis. Proposals will be accepted at the Public Works Department, 706 South Glover Avenue, Urbana, Illinois, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Proposals will be accepted up to and no later than 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2014.

North Maple Street Closure from East University Avenue to East Main Street

November 18, 2014 - 7:00am to November 20, 2014 - 5:00pm

Cross Construction will be repairing a sanitary manhole at the intersection of East University Avenue and North Maple Street. North Maple Street will be closed to through traffic from East University Avenue to East Main Street starting on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at 7:00 a.m. to Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 5:00 p.m., weather permitting.


A detour route for North Maple Street is provided via East Main Street to North Vine Street to East University Avenue. Access will be maintained to all properties on North Maple Street during the sanitary sewer construction.
