South Busey Avenue Road Closure

Cross Construction will be installing a sanitary manhole on Busey Avenue between Nevada Street and Washington Street.

Weather permitting, Busey Avenue will be closed to through traffic between Nevada Street and Washington Street from 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2014.

All residents along South Busey Avenue will be able to access their properties during the sewer repair.

Parklet Decking System Request for Proposals - CLOSED

The City of Urbana is seeking cost proposals for materials to construct two (2) Parklet Decking Systems, similar to the Bison Pop-Up Parks Decking System.


Proposals will be accepted at the Public Works Department, 706 S. Glover Avenue, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Bids will be accepted up to and no later than 2:00 p.m. May 5, 2014 and at said time shall be opened and read publicly.

Invitation to Bid for Nuisance Vegetation Abatement

Bids will be received at the Office of the Director of Public Works, City of Urbana, Illinois for: Nuisance Vegetation Abatement (BID #1314-18)

The required Bid specifications and Pricing Worksheet may be obtained from Urbana Public Works, 706 South Glover Avenue, Urbana, Illinois, 61802 or in the file attachment listed below.

Proposals will be received until 2:00 p.m. prevailing time on Friday, April 25, 2014.

The City reserves the right to reject any and all proposals and to waive irregularities or technicalities.

Update: Airport Road Opening

Beginning at 4:00 PM on Friday, September 12, Airport Road will be opened the full length of the project from Captiva Street to Somerset Drive.


The project consisted of the reconstruction of Airport Road from just west of Captiva Street to just east of Somerset Drive within the city limits. The proposed work entailed reshaping the existing base to allow for placement of a new hot-mix asphalt surface. The reconstructed road has a suburban look with roadside ditches and curb and gutter at select locations. The total length of the project is 3,674 feet.
