2018 Full Depth Concrete Patching Project Lane Closures

The City of Urbana has contracted with Feutz Construction Inc. from Paris, Illinois, to perform pavement repair at various locations. The project award amount of $84,660 is funded with Capital Replacement and Improvement funds.

The proposed improvements are located on:

Location 1 – Springfield Avenue from Coler Avenue to McCullough Street
Location 2 – Goodwin Avenue from Stoughton Street to Main Street
Location 3 – Anderson Street from south of Hawthorne Drive to north of Hawthorne Drive

Weather permitting, work is scheduled to start at Location 1 on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, and end Friday, October 19, 2018, using periodic lane closures. It is the City’s intention to keep Springfield Avenue open to traffic at all times with a minimum of one lane, two-way traffic.

Weather permitting, work is scheduled to start at Location 2 and 3 on Friday, October 19, 2018, and end Wednesday, October 31, 2018, using periodic lane closures. It is the City’s intention to keep Goodwin Avenue and Anderson Street open to thru traffic at all times.

Closed - Request for Quotes: Purchase of Annual Flowers for Spring Planting

The City of Urbana, Public Works Department, Arbor Division is seeking quotes for growing and supplying annual flowers for spring of 2019.

Flowers are specific to plant variety and pot size. Substitutions will be considered.

Price must include delivery to the Arbor shop at 901 N. Smith Road on May 14 or 15, 2019. Final vendor selection will be on best overall price with the fewest substitutions.

All quotes will be considered until 3:00 PM on October 15, 2018.

Goodwin Avenue Closure

Weather permitting; North Goodwin Avenue will be closed to thru traffic between West Clark Street and West Main Street from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2018 for the YingYing Zhang Garden Dedication Ceremony outside Campbell Hall.

Parking will be available in Lot B-22 at the corner of Clark and Harvey Streets. No thru traffic will be permitted on North Goodwin Avenue between West Clark Street and West Main Street during the Ceremony.

Motorists are encouraged to drive carefully around this area. Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation during this time.

Main Street Closure for First Friday Festival

On Friday, October 5, 2018, Main Street between Race Street and Broadway Avenue will be closed from 5:00 p.m. through 8:00 p.m. for the Veg Fest Urbana First Fridays Festival.

Parking on this section of Main Street will not be available during the event.

South Mathews Avenue Closure

Weather permitting; South Mathews Avenue will be closed to thru traffic between West Green Street and West Oregon Street from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2018 for replacement of a fire hydrant done by the University of Illinois Facilities and Services Department.

No thru traffic will be permitted on South Mathews Avenue between West Green Street and West Oregon Street during the project.

Motorists are encouraged to drive carefully through this and all construction areas. Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation during this project.
