Sealed bids for a supplier to deliver USL Dyed #2 Diesel Fuel on a regular basis to 901 N. Smith Road will be received and at that time publicly opened and read at the office of Director of Public Works, 706 South Glover, Urbana, Illinois 61802 until 1:00 PM on October 12, 2018.

The City reserves the right to waive technicalities or to accept or reject any proposal or combination of proposals based upon the City’s determination of its best interest.

Race Street Closure for Urbana High School Homecoming Parade

On Friday, September 28, 2018, Race Street from Michigan Avenue to Iowa Street will be closed from 2:00 p.m. through 3:00 p.m. for staging in preparation for the Urbana High School Homecoming Parade.

The route for the parade will be:

  • Race Street north to Washington from the High School,
  • Washington east to Race,
  • Race north to Main,
  • Main east to Vine,
  • Vine south to Washington and west on Washington into the parking lot on the north side of the high school.

The Parade will start at 3:00 p.m., traffic will be interrupted on the route as the parade passes. The parade will last 35 minutes through its entirety.

Goodwin Avenue Closure

South Goodwin Avenue between West Oregon Street and West Nevada Street will be closed starting Thursday, September 27th at 6:00 p.m. through Sunday, September 30th at 6:00 a.m. for The Pygmalion Festival.

Parking on this section of Goodwin Avenue will not be permitted during the event. We appreciate your patience while this event is underway.

Closed - Request for Quotes: Solar Powered LED Enhanced Signage (1819-06)

The City of Urbana (City) is seeking quotes to provide the City with equipment for solar powered LED enhanced signage. The City intends to install this equipment at two separate locations, with each installation requiring: a solar array, backup batteries, programmable timer, and a LED enhanced warning sign.

Equipment Requirements:

Signs shall meet the following requirements:

  • One (1) Pedestrian (W11-2) Warning Sign
  • One (1) Bicycle/Pedestrian (W11-15) Warning Sign
  • Size 36” x 36”
  • Fluorescent Yellow-Green Background
  • MUTCD compliant retroreflective prismatic sheeting
  • MUTCD compliant use of flashing Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs)

Timer

  • Two (2) programmable timers capable of initiating LED flashing for at least three (3) separate times of day (i.e. 7 am-9 am, 11 am-1 pm, 4 pm-6 pm)
  • Timer programming hardware and software

Solar Power

East Main Street Lane Shift

Two-way traffic will shift to the eastbound lane of East Main Street in Urbana beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 20, 2018.

Weather permitting, Cross Construction, Inc. will make a repair to the City sanitary sewer main in the westbound lane of East Main Street between Lynn Street and Cottage Grove Avenue. Main Street will remain open to through traffic for the duration of the project and the lane shift will end at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 28, 2018.

Motorists are encouraged to drive carefully through this and all construction areas. Thank you for your cooperation while this improvement is in progress.
