Retirement Announced

Mayor Diane Marlin announced that William Gray, P.E., will retire as Urbana Public Works Director after 26 years of service to the community. His last day in the office will be October 26 and he will officially retire on October 31, 2018. A celebration of his career is being planned for late October.

“We are grateful for Bill Gray’s tremendous contributions to our community and beyond,” Marlin said. “We will greatly miss his steady hand and unmatched institutional knowledge and expertise. Under his leadership, the City of Urbana has distinguished itself as a leader in sustainability, infrastructure, multi-modal transportation design, operations, urban forestry, and intergovernmental cooperation. We wish Bill and Kathy Gray the very best.”

Mayor Marlin also announced that City Administrator Carol Mitten will serve a dual role as Interim Public Works Director while a nationwide search is conducted to fill the vacancy.

Closed - Request for Proposals: Telecommunications System Consultant

The City of Urbana (IL) requests consulting services for a telecommunications system replacement at 10 City buildings. (Solicitation #1819-03)

The consultant will:

  • analyze City telecommunication needs,
  • write specifications for a future Request to procure the equipment and installation, 
  • provide input on the proposals received for that future Request.

All Proposers must register through the Vendor Contact Form in order to receive proposal documents.

The original Proposal MUST be submitted to the Requesting Department at or before September 14, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. Central Time to receive full consideration.

The City reserves the right to waive technicalities or to accept or reject any proposal or combination of proposals based upon the City’s determination of its best interest.

The City is seeking proposals from qualified firms for Employee Assistance Program (“EAP”) services. The City’s EAP program is intended to help employees and their household members deal with personal problems such as alcoholism/substance abuse, family difficulties, stress, monetary/financial problems, legal troubles, family violence and other personal difficulties that might adversely impact their work performance, health, and well-being.

Please be sure to read the entire RFP for specific requirements, details, and other important information!

What's in Your Square? Visioning Activity

You are invited to participate in a What’s in your square? Visioning Activity for the 9-block Lincoln Square area consisting of the Landmark Hotel, Lincoln Square Mall, and the publicly-owned parking lots.

Spend about an hour sharing your ideas for the future during interactive activities at any of the following times:

  • Thursday, June 21, at 6pm
  • Wednesday, June 27, at 6pm
  • Saturday, June 30, at 11am and 1pm
