Last month Urbana took another visit to Thionville as the city prepared to celebrate its 75th Anniversary of its Liberation from German occupation at the end of WWII.
Thionville, France, Urbana’s third Sister City, is part of the Moselle Départment, Grand Est Région, in northeastern France. Located on the Moselle River, it lies 12 km south of the Luxemburg border.
City ordinances require property owners within identified snow removal districts to clear the adjacent public sidewalk of snow and ice. Sidewalk clearance must occur within 24 hours of a declaration made by the Public Works Director. After a winter storm, notice that the sidewalk clearance requirements are in effect will be issued through local media outlets and on the City's website.

A new media production firm, Transcendence Broadcasting Inc., announced its formation today and the opening of a new office at Co-Lab, Inc., 206 West Main Street, Urbana. The firm is headed by two veteran producers whose work is regularly seen on PBS-TV and heard on public radio and seen on the silver screen, Nancy and Gene Koprowski.
The Urbana Police Department tradition, Shop with a Cop, was Tuesday and Thursday, December 3 and 5, 2019. Kids, parents, City volunteers and Urbana Police loaded up into First Student buses, and made the trek out to Farm-n-Fleet to shop. Happy holidays, everyone!
