Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event Registration Opens July 1

A household hazardous waste collection event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 17, 2024, in Champaign County. This event is sponsored by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) and is free and open to all Illinois residents.  Registration is required to attend the event.  Online registration opens on Monday, July 1, 2024.  To register click HERE

Items accepted at the event include oil-based paint only (no latex-based paint accepted), aerosol paint, paint thinner, varnish, stain, herbicides, pesticides, insecticides, chemical cleaners, antifreeze, used motor oil, old gasoline and kerosene, mercury-containing products, household batteries, acids, corrosives, solvents, pool chemicals, hobby chemicals, compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs) and fluorescent lamps.

Items NOT accepted include latex-based paint, explosives, fireworks, fire extinguishers, propane tanks, expired medications or controlled substances, medical waste or needles, smoke or CO2 detectors, lead acid batteries, farm machinery oil, farm chemicals, biohazard waste, institutional waste, agricultural waste or commercial waste.
