Pedestrians
The City of Urbana offers its residents the best of small town living and big city amenities. Excellent schools, outstanding parks, a mosaic of diverse and engaged neighborhoods, a robust array of businesses located throughout the city make Urbana a great place to live.
The City of Urbana encourages the use of alternative modes of transportation such as walking for access to local amenities. Walking is the oldest and most efficient, affordable, and environmentally-friendly form of transportation. Walking provides for the public health and well-being of Urbana’s citizens, contributes to good air quality, and reduces congestion. With a size of 11.6 square miles and flat topography, the City of Urbana is an ideal community for walking.
One of the City Council’s goals is to "become a multimodal, bike and pedestrian-friendly community that supports sustainable transportation.”
