COVID-19 Business Impact: Survey Responses Needed

SBA

The Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity (DCEO) is working to secure access to helpful resources for small businesses throughout the State of Illinois. As you may have read from SBA’s previous announcement (https://www.sba.gov/page/guidance-businesses-employers-plan-respond-coro...), the U.S. Small Business Administration will work directly with state Governors to provide targeted, low-interest loans to small businesses and non-profits that have been severely impacted by COVID-19.

As part of this process, DCEO needs to collect information from small businesses that are negatively impacted. This information will assist them in requesting an economic injury disaster declaration from the SBA.

Champaign, Urbana, and Champaign County Leaders Issue COVID-19 Statement

As local government leaders, our top priorities are the health, safety, and welfare of our residents, visitors, and employees.  We know COVID-19 (coronavirus) will impact our community. While the full extent remains uncertain, we know that we must all take immediate steps to slow the spread of the virus today.

Our government agencies are also working to ensure that the delivery of essential public services continues.  We are taking all necessary steps to make sure we continue to deliver critical police, fire, and emergency dispatch services and maintain public infrastructure.  Our agencies have taken measures to appropriately equip our first responders to protect themselves and those they serve. We continue to work closely with the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District to make sure the public has accurate and up-to-date information.

30 MPH Speed Limit - University Avenue

During the week of March 16, 2020, the speed limit on University Avenue from Wright Street to Maple Street will be reduced to 30 miles per hour. The reduction in the speed limit was requested by the City of Urbana and then approved by IDOT.

The speed will be lowered in conjunction with the construction that will be performed along the same length of University Avenue. This speed limit reduction will be a permanent change and remain so after construction is completed.

IDOT crews will be performing the speed limit sign changes along the corridor in the coming week as part of this reduction process. The speed limit reduction will be effective once the new signs are in place.
