King Elementary Students to Participate in Illinois Marathon

Students at King Elementary have been training all month in preparation for the Illinois Marathon. A total of 36 students in grades K-5 will be participating in the Youth Run this Saturday at 2:30.

The school has organized bus transportation for students, parents and staff to and from the marathon.

While not all students are participating this weekend, they’ve all been working towards a goal of walking/running 4 miles per week. Students have been finding creative ways to reach their goal though PE class, recess and after-school. In a culminating event, mock races will be held tomorrow, April 29, throughout the day, and as a special treat fruit kabobs will be provided for all students.
