Urbana Middle School Welcomes Incoming Students with “Sixth Grade Transition Day”

Date: August 12, 2011 - 8:30am to 11:00am

Urbana Middle School is proud to invite incoming sixth grade students to Sixth Grade Transition Day on Friday, August 12, 2011 from 8:30-11:00 a.m.

As part of an ongoing effort to help incoming 6th graders transition from elementary school to middle school with minimal stress, students will have the opportunity to tour the building, meet their teachers, meet other students on their teams, receive their locker combinations and have time to practice opening lockers before older students arrive. The day should prove to be a great opportunity for incoming students to feel comfortable with their new surroundings before the school year starts.

Parents will also be able to attend and learn more about opportunities at Urbana Middle School. Barbara Linder, a former UMS parent and current UMS Mentor/Volunteer Coordinator, will be available to meet with parents to discuss programs for the upcoming year.

Information provided by the Urbana School District.
