Urbana High School Presents "The Mousetrap"

Date: November 2, 2011 - 7:00pm to November 5, 2011 - 7:00pm

Agatha Christie’s classic murder mystery The Mousetrap will be staged at 7:00pm Wednesday, November 2nd through Saturday November 5th at the Urbana Middle School Cafetorium. The show is presented by Urbana High School Drama and is taking place at UMS due to the renovation going on with the UHS Auditorium.

The show features a young couple opening their newly inherited home, Monkswell Manor, as a guest house just outside of London. As each guest arrives, it becomes increasingly clear that something is amiss. When the final visitor appears with the stated intent of discovering a murderer on the loose, Monkswell Manor is turned on its head as everyone becomes a prime suspect.

The play opened in the West End of London in 1952 and has been running continuously since then. It has the longest initial run of any play in history, with more than 24,000 performances so far. The suspense that abounds in this murder mystery is sure to keep audiences on the edge of their seat.

Rounding out the cast are Urbana High School students Abby Taylor, Sam Warren, Noah Gehrmann, Emily Otnes, Steven Kemball, Taskin Sehitoglu, Rosie Whicker and Jack Wright.

UHS English teacher and Director of Theatre Tim Broeker is directing the show assisted by UHS English and Social Studies teacher Mike Mitchell.

Tickets are $6 and may be purchased at the door beginning 30 minutes prior to each performance.
