Landscape Recycling Center Closed for Road Repair 08-29-17

The Landscape Recycling Center will be closed on Tuesday, August 29th, 2017 from 8:00 am to noon for road resurfacing work. We anticipate opening at noon, but if any equipment or problems arise, we will try to open for business as soon as possible.

In the event of rain on Tuesday, the projected rain out-date will be Wednesday, August 30th with the same hours as above (8:00 am – 12:00am).

We are sorry for this inconvenience. The ticket booth employees will be reminding customers the week of the closure and hours.

Sweetcorn Festival Street Closures

The following street closures will occur for the Annual Sweetcorn Festival beginning Friday, August 25, 2017 and continuing through Sunday, August 27, 2017.

On Friday, August 25, 2017 at 6:00 a.m. the following streets will be closed:

  • Main Street from Vine Street to Cedar Street
  • Springfield Avenue from Cedar Street to Main Street
  • Walnut Street from Water Street to Main Street
  • Broadway Avenue from Elm Street to Water Street
  • Race Street from Elm Street to Griggs Street
  • Water Street from Broadway Avenue to Race Street

On Friday, August 25, 2017 at 6:00 a.m. the following City of Urbana Parking Lots will be closed:

  • Lot 1
  • Lot 2

The Urbana Parking Deck (upper level) will be accessible from Elm Street at all times.

All streets will re-opened on Sunday, August 27, 2017 by noon. We appreciate your patience while the Sweetcorn Festival is underway.

Closed: Request for Bids: Storm Sewer Cleaning and Televising Project

Sealed Bids will be received until 1:55 P.M. prevailing time on SEPTEMBER 12, 2017 and opened and read aloud publicly at 2:00 P.M. prevailing time on SEPTEMBER 12, 2017 at the office of the City Engineer, 706 South Glover, Urbana, Illinois, 61802 for the 2017 Storm Sewer Cleaning & Televising Project (City Section 17-00587-00-SR), which includes furnishing of all materials, equipment and labor necessary to clean and televise approximately 43,300 lineal feet of storm sewer ranging in size from 6-inch to 60-inch diameter.

Specific tasks include water jet cleaning and tree root sawing; debris removal and disposal from storm sewers, manholes, inlets; and closed circuit televising and digital recording and internal inspection of sewer pipes.

All of the storm sewers under this project belong to the City of Urbana.

University Avenue Westbound Lane Closure

Weather permitting; as part of the 2016 Storm Sewer Cleaning and Televising Project, Hoerr Construction, Inc. will be cleaning and televising sewers and will close the outside WESTBOUND lane on University Avenue between Coler Street and Broadway Avenue on Monday, August 21st at 7:00 a.m.

University Avenue will remain open to through traffic at all times and access will be maintained to all properties on University Avenue during the cleaning and televising process. Traffic control will be in place to guide motorists through the areas where travel is reduced to three lanes.

Motorists are encouraged to drive carefully through this and all construction areas. Thank you for your cooperation while this work is in progress.

University Avenue Eastbound Lane Closure

Weather permitting; as part of the 2016 Storm Sewer Cleaning and Televising Project, Hoerr Construction, Inc. will be cleaning and televising sewers and will close the outside EASTBOUND lane on University Avenue between Coler Street and Broadway Avenue on Wednesday, August 23rd at 7:00 a.m.

University Avenue will remain open to through traffic at all times and access will be maintained to all properties on University Avenue during the cleaning and televising process. Traffic control will be in place to guide motorists through the areas where travel is reduced to three lanes.
