Illinois Marathon Street Closures

The City of Urbana will restrict parking and close several streets to thru traffic for the Illinois Marathon, which will take place on Saturday, April 22, 2017.

Urbana Street Closing Information:

All street closings will begin at 6:00 AM. The entire route will be closed by 6:30 AM. (Traffic will be pulsed across the route when possible). The following streets will re-open at these approximate times:

Green Street & Mathews Avenue Intersection & Lane Closure

April 8, 2017 - 7:00am to April 14, 2017 - 5:00pm

Weather permitting; the south leg of the Green Street and Mathews Avenue intersection will be closed to southbound traffic at Green Street starting at 7:00 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017 for the installation of a 12” water main.

The south leg of the Green Street and Mathews Avenue intersection will re-open with one lane southbound at 7:30 a.m. Monday, April 10, 2017. The south leg of the intersection will remain one lane southbound until fully opened at 5:00 p.m. Friday, April 14, 2017.

Main Street Closure

On Friday, April 7, 2017, Main Street between Race Street and Broadway Avenue will be closed from 6:00 p.m. through 10:00 p.m. for the Urbana First Fridays Festival. Parking on this section of Main Street will not be available during the event.

Busey Avenue Road Closure

Weather permitting, Busey Avenue between Hill Street and Fairview Avenue will be closed to thru traffic from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on the following days for tree removal and pruning of another tree being done by the City of Urbana Arbor Division:
