Maple Street Lane Closure

Weather permitting, the southbound lane for traffic on Maple Street will be closed from Elm Street to High Street beginning Wednesday, August 24, 2016 until 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 26, 2016 for installation of a new water main. Maple Street will remain open to traffic at all times during the lane closure.

Access will be maintained to all properties along Maple Street during the lane closure.

Motorists are encouraged to drive carefully through this and all construction areas. Thank you for your cooperation while this construction is in progress.

Bids will be received through 2:00 P.M., Thursday, September 1, 2016, at the Public Works Center, 706 South Glover Avenue, Urbana, Illinois, and at said time the bids shall be opened and read publicly.

University Avenue and Race Street Lane Closures

August 15, 2016 - 5:00am to August 22, 2016 - 3:00pm

Weather permitting, the outside lane for westbound traffic on University Avenue will be closed at its intersection with Race Street starting at 5:00 a.m. on Monday, August 15, 2016 until 3:00 p.m. Monday, August 22, 2016 for a curb closure at 202 West University Avenue. University Avenue will remain open to traffic at all times during the curb closure.

The southbound lane on Race Street will also be closed at its intersection with University Avenue starting at 5:00 a.m. on Monday, August 15, 2016 until 3:00 p.m. on Monday, August 22, 2016 for construction activities at 202 West University Avenue. Race Street will remain open to traffic at all times during the construction activities.

Motorists are encouraged to drive carefully through this and all construction areas.

Windsor Road Closure

Windsor Road from Lincoln Avenue to Myra Ridge Drive will be fully closed during the following dates and times for material sampling and testing:

  • 9:00 PM, Wednesday, August 17 to 6:00 AM Thursday, August 18
  • 9:00 PM, Thursday, August 18 to 6:00 AM Friday, August 19

Vine Street from Windsor Road to Scovill Street, Lynn Street from Windsor Road to Willard Street and Boulder Drive at Windsor Road will also be fully closed during the same time period as Windsor Road. Local access to residences or businesses on Vine Street, Lynn Street and Boulder Drive will be available via adjacent side streets.

Race Street, Philo Road, and Myra Ridge Drive at Windsor Road will be fully open to north-south traffic. The traffic signals at Lincoln Avenue, Race Street, Philo Road, Boulder Drive and Myra Ridge Drive intersections with Windsor Road will be placed in red flash (all-way stop) mode during the nighttime closures.

Material sampling and testing on Windsor Road is being performed to collect additional data to further understand the cause of the uncontrolled cracks in the new concrete pavement.

Washington Street Closure at Intersection with Lynn Street

Weather permitting, Washington Street will be closed at its intersection with Lynn Street starting at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, August 15, 2016 until 3:00 p.m. on Monday, August 22, 2016 for replacement of a water main.

Access will be maintained to properties on Washington Street and Lynn Street but no through traffic will be permitted on Washington Street at its intersection with Lynn Street. A detour route for Washington Street is provided via Anderson Street to Oregon Street to Cottage Grove Avenue.
