Urbana Lincoln Hotel

In an effort to boost local tourism and attract conventions, a group of local businessmen invested in a new hotel for downtown Urbana. They rejected architect Joseph Royer’s first plans as “bordering on the commonplace” and he came back with a superb Tudor Revival design. The hotel opened its doors during the 1923 University of Illinois Homecoming Weekend.
