UPTV Wins Regional Awards
Submitted by JasonL on March 21, 2019 - 11:08amThe City of Urbana is pleased to announce Urbana Public Television will recieve two awards at the 7th Annual Best of the Midwest Media Fest and Awards Banquet. The banquet recognizes the best community access television programs in the Midwest.
City staff will be recognized for their instructional video, How to Aerate Your Lawn. The video features City Arborist Mike Brunk explaining how residents can utilize the Landscape Recycling Center to grow and maintain a healthy turf. Woolard Marketing Consultants' Bonnie Woolard wrote the script.
"Mike Brunk's passion for Urbana and education come through on the camera each and every time I work with him. His knowledge is what made this video such a delight to produce," commented UPTV Station Manager, Jason Liggett.
Urbana's Bicycle Master Plan was recognized by the the Chaddick Institute and was featured in the Illinois Municipal Policy Journal that past fall, 2018. The Chaddick Institute evaluated over 1,400 Illinois communities outside of the Chicago metropolitan area with regard to promoting non-automotive forms of travel. The U-Cycle program would like your input as we consider a voluntary, subscription-based food scrap collection program. 
The City of Urbana appreciates the many volunteers who serve on advisory boards, commissions and committees that provide valued input and recommendations to the Mayor and City Council. Members are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council.
