University Student Move In Parking Enforcement

Beginning at 6 a.m. on Sunday, August 18, 2024, and ending at midnight on Sunday, August 25, 2024, the City of Urbana Parking Enforcement Division will enforce the following:

  • The enforcement of restricted areas (i.e., restricted from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m.) located in the campus district will be suspended during move-in time.
  • Students moving in early (August 20 to 22) will follow the flow of traffic as noted in the figure below.
  • Meters will be enforced as usual during move-in time except on streets blocked by Public Works.

Parking regulations that are not related to safety concerns—such as parking too close to a sidewalk or driveway, parking outside the lines, being more than 12 inches from the curb, or parking on the wrong side of the street—will not be enforced during move-in time unless a complaint is made. Exceptions include blocking intersections or roadways.

Fraternities, sororities, and other house organizations will have earlier move-in dates, which are still to be determined.
