UHS and UMS Jazz Cafe

Everyone is invited to have a Taste of New Orleans as the Urbana High School and Urbana Middle School jazz bands play their last Jazz Café of the 2014-15 school year.


The event will be on Friday, May 8 from 7:00 pm to 9:00pm in the Urbana High School Commons. Entrance fee is $3 per person or $10 per family.


Desserts will be available for purchase during the performances.

Urbana Free Library Hosts Shredding Event with Senator Scott Bennett

Please join Senator Scott Bennett and the Library for a shredding event.


Location: Parking lot on Cedar and Elm, just west of The Urbana Free Library
Limit: Two boxes per person. Residential shredding only (not for businesses)


Please plan to take empty boxes home with you. The shredding event will end at noon or earlier if the shredding truck reaches capacity.

Urbana High School Commencement

The Commencement Ceremony of the 100th year graduating class of Urbana High School will take place on Saturday, May 30 at 11:00 am, but because of the threat of inclement weather, the ceremony will take place in the Urbana Middle School gymnasium, 1201 S. Vine St. Graduating seniors participating in the ceremony will have a mandatory rehearsal at 2:00 pm on Friday and will meet in the UHS Commons. At that time, the students will receive family tickets to the event. The number of tickets per student has not yet been determined.


On the day of the ceremony, doors open at UMS at 9:00 am. Limited parking is available in the UHS and UMS (both front and back) lots, as well was street parking around the facilities.

Urbana Middle School Students Perform Alice in Wonderland

April 16, 2015 - 7:00pm to April 18, 2015 - 2:00pm

Urbana Middle School students will perform "Alice in Wonderland" on Thursday, April 16th at 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday, April 18th at 2:00 p.m. The performance will take place at Urbana Middle School, 1201 S. Vine Street, Urbana. Tickets will be sold at the door, $3 for students and $5 for adults.


Urbana Middle School Students take part in the yearly musical production as part of the 21st CCLC SPLASH afterschool program. The production is an opportunity for students to learn aspects of theater, song, and choreography including the behind the scenes technical workings, costuming, and makeup. Many middle school students discover a love for music and performance because of their participation in the in the musical. The Directors are Urbana Middle School teachers Ms. Skarzynski, Ms. Stenzel, and Mr. Sands.

Commemorative Event at The Knowlton & Bennett Drug Store Building

Let's celebrate the history and culture of Urbana! The Knowlton & Bennett Drug Store Building at Race and Main Streets is a historic building designed by famed Illinois architect Joseph W. Royer. Please join us there on Saturday, April 11, for a commemorative plaque dedication and ribbon-cutting event. See below for more details.


Urbana Free Library's Eighth Annual Fairy Tale Ball

Fairy tale lovers of all ages are invited to an evening of stories, crafts, dancing, games, and entertainment. Don your shiny suit of armor, sparkly ball gown, or dress like your favorite fairy tale character and join us for an evening of fantasy and frivolity!


The Fairy Tale Ball will be held at the Urbana Free Library, 210 West Green Street, Urbana.

This event is presented by the City of Urbana, and is a part of 40 North's 13th Annual Boneyard Arts Festival.
