UHS Presents the Stars and Stripes Game

Date:
September 26, 2014 - 5:30pm

The Urbana High School Tigers Football Program and the UHS Echo are hard at work planning the activities for the 2014 Stars and Stripes Game on September 26, 2014.

The Tigers will play the Hampshire High School Whip-Purs at the UHS McKinley Field Athletic Complex with the Junior Varsity game beginning at 5:30pm, followed by Varsity at 7:30pm.

This event is aimed at honoring the Illinois National Guard and their commitment to their community, and is offering a formal invitation to VFW and Legion, but as always veterans will get in free with their DD-214 or military ID. The game will feature special jerseys with core values of the National Guard on the back in place of the name plate.

In addition, the Stars and Stripes from the USS Missouri will be carried by the UHS Tiger Football Team. American Legion Post 71, ING, and the local VFW will be present as the Tigers take the field, and the coin toss will be done using a liberty coin from Seal Team 7. During halftime, a scoreboard video will provide spectators more information about the National Guard, and they will have an informational table set up throughout the game.
