NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT the City Council of the City of Urbana, Illinois, will hold a study session at 6:00 p.m. Monday, July 12, 2010 in the second floor conference room of the Urbana City Building, 400 South Vine Street, Urbana, Illinois, for the purpose of discussing a proposed local motor fuel tax.

Origami Bat Art Workshop at the Market at the Square on Saturday, June 26th
The City of Urbana Public Arts Program will host an Origami Bat Airplane art workshop on Saturday, June 26th from 8:00 am to noon. The public is invited to create and fly bat airplanes while learning about bats with artist Brett Bloom at the art workshop at Urbana’s Market at the Square.
Notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Urbana, Illinois will hold a public hearing at 7:00 p.m., Monday, June 21, 2010 in the Council Chambers of the Urbana City Building, 400 S. Vine St., Urbana, to consider a proposed annexation agreement between the City of Urbana and Neal and Rosemary Asklund for a tract of land totaling approximately 0.38 acres located in Urbana Township and commonly referred to as 105 G.H. Baker Drive.

The City of Urbana invites the public to an opening of the current “Artist of the Corridor” art exhibit featuring the work of Betsem Atiback Benjamin.
On Wednesday, June 16th, from 4:00 – 5:00pm, a reception will be held in the City Building at 400 S. Vine Street to meet the artist Betsem Atiback Benjamin and view his work. Benjamin’s work will be on display until August 2, 2010 and is open to the public.
The City created an art exhibit space in March 2010 to feature artwork by Urbana artists in the City Building. The Artist of the Corridor exhibits are displayed for a period of two months. This program is part of the Urbana Public Arts Program that works to create a city where all residents engage with the arts in its many forms and where artists thrive and are valued.

Local artist ensemble addresses climate change in an original multi-media performance project.
(Urbana, Illinois) - Change of State Performance Project presents the world premiere of an original multi-media theatre performance exploring the future of climate change in the Midwest: Aquatown: A Future Hydrohistory, funded in part by a City of Urbana Arts Grant.
Where: U-C Independent Media Center 202 S. Broadway Ave. Urbana, Illinois.
Showtimes: June 10th –12th at 8pm June 13th at 7pm.
Tickets: $12 for adults and $6 for youth under 19. There is a $2 discount for seniors and those not arriving by car. Thursday’s show has free admission. Reservations can be made by calling (217) 689-0111.
