Teens ONLY FRESH Hangout

Urbana Park District is hosting FRESH hangout zones for teens (ages 13-18) throughout January - April! Whether you enjoy drawing, gaming, crafting, socializing, all are welcome to join!

Free Wi-Fi is available. Park District staff will provide exciting and varied activities such as Nintendo Switch gaming, take-home arts and crafts, Chromebooks, basketball, board games, PS5, PlayStation VR and more!

We will also have a fire pit on the deck at Phillips Recreation Center, as long as weather permits, to enjoy snacks that you can make over the fire! All supplies will be provided; but feel free to bring friends who are teens, and any games or activities that you would like to share! Registration is not required. For any questions please call the Anita Purves Nature Center at 217-384-4062.

DIY Yarn Crafts

Make a butterfly, star shape, and basket at this engaging yarn craft program!

Come to the Library to make a butterfly, mini decoration, and basket with yarn. No previous experience with yarn or crafts needed!

With guidance from librarians, participants will use paper, beads, pipe cleaners, and (of course!) yarn, to make fun crafts.

January 15, 2023 - 5 p.m. Martin Luther King, Jr. at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, 500 S. Goodwin Ave., Urbana 61801. Doors open at 4 p.m., Community Choir will be featured, and the featured keynote speaker  will be Reverend Joel King.

No Change to U-Cycle Route Schedules this Holiday Season

There will be NO CHANGE to the U-Cycle route schedules during the weeks of December 26 and January 2. The routes will be running the normal schedule.
 
Please set recycling out on your regular U-Cycle collection day.

Try out any fitness classes at the Phillips Recreation Center and the Lake House in Crystal Lake Park absolutely free for this week.

It’s one way that we can say “Thanks!” to our continuing participants and “Welcome” to our new participants.

So come on by, try out a class, and let us know what you think.

Winter Solstice Celebration

All ages! Under 15 with adult.

Enjoy a festive evening of stories and adventure during this twilight event in anticipation of the shortest day of the year.

We will space out around the fire for snacks and storytelling, make wildlife treats to decorate a native tree, and set our intentions for the coming year. Guided hikes through Busey Woods will depart every hour, and we will finish with a candlelit winter spiral walk.

Pre-registration is required for this event as space will be limited. Call 217-384-4062 to sign-up.
