The Recycling Process: Multifamily Program

Collection

Recyclables are collected at every multifamily dwelling in Urbana by the City’s recycling contractor.

Multifamily dwellings include apartment homes, dormitories, sororities, fraternities and senior living homes with 5 or more units.

Currently there are about 9,600 multifamily units in the City of Urbana.

Like U-CYCLE’s curbside program, a “single-stream” collection method is used, where acceptable papers and containers can be mixed together.
