What is the meaning of the Fourth of July?
Independence Day, also called Fourth of July or July 4th, in the United States, is the annual celebration of nationhood. It commemorates the passage of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776.

U-Cycle Independence Day Holiday Schedule

Due to the Independence Day holiday on Tuesday, July 4, U-Cycle collections starting on Tuesday will be delayed by one day.
Tuesday's collections will be on Wednesday, July 5, Wednesday's collections will be on Thursday, July 6, Thursday's collections will be on Friday, July 7, and Friday's collections will be on Saturday, July 8.
Please set recycling curbside before 7:00 a.m. on your route day to ensure collection.

Juneteenth Flag Raising & Reverence Ceremony

We welcome all to the City of Urbana's Juneteenth Flag Raising & Reverence Ceremony.
Learn the history of Juneteenth, as well as, the significance of Juneteenth and how it affects us today. We will also raise the Official Juneteenth Flag while practicing a moment of reverence. A Mayoral Proclamation will be read declaring the day official in the City of Urbana.

Historic District Walking Tour
