Prevailing Wage Act

The Prevailing Wage Act (820 ILCS 130/1 et seq.) requires contractors or subcontractors to pay prevailing wages to all laborers, workers, and mechanics who perform work on a public works project. Bid# 1112-03 Tuck Pointing & Concrete Masonry Unit (CMU) Replacement at 706 S. Glover Avenue & Repainting of 704 and 706 S. Glover Avenue, Urbana, Illinois.

The City of Urbana, Department of Public Works, is accepting bids for Tuck Pointing and Concrete Masonry Unit (CMU) Replacement for its Public Works building located at 706 S. Glover Avenue, Urbana, Illinois and the Repainting of its storage facility and Public Works building at 704 and 706 S. Glover Avenue, Urbana, Illinois. In addition to compliance with the attached specifications the successful bidder will also:

  • Protect all landscaping and site improvements; and
  • Contact and coordinate with utilities as necessary.

Specifications and approximate volumes (shown on photographs) can be downloaded below. It is the bidder’s responsibility to visit the physical site to verify conditions.

Each bidder shall complete and include with their bid a Purchase Certification Form and Equal Opportunity Workplace Statistics Form. In addition, bidder must provide a copy of their Certificate of Liability Insurance and Bid Bond for 5% of the total project bid.

Request for Bids: Signage & Wayfinding Phase I Implementation

Sealed BIDS will be received until 2:30 P.M. local time on September 30, 2011 and opened and read aloud publicly at the Office of the Director of Public Works for the furnishing of all materials, equipment and labor necessary for Phase 1 Implementation: Signage & Wayfinding, and other incidental work.


Specifications are available for download below. Please contact the Office of the Director of Public Works, 706 South Glover Avenue, Urbana, Illinois, 61802 if other arrangements for receipt of bid related materials need to be made.


Any questions must be submitted in writing by 2:00 P.M. local time on September 16, 2011 to the Director of Public Works. Written answers will be provided to all bidders.
