Urbana High School Jazz Cafe

The Urbana High School Jazz Band under the Direction of Nathaniel Banks cordially invites you to attend our annual Jazz Café Friday May 13, 2011 7:00 pm in the UHS Cafeteria. The event will feature desserts, fellowship and great jazz by the students of District 116.

The 90 minute program will feature the Urbana Middle School Jazz Band and the Urbana High School Small ensemble and Big Band. Pieces by Duke Ellington, Joe Zawinul, Count Basie, and Benny Goodman will be performed.

Urbana High School Commencement Ceremony

Urbana High School will host it’s 129th annual commencement ceremony at 3pm on Sunday, May 29. The ceremony will be held at University of Illinois Assembly Hall, 1800 South 1st St., Champaign.


Graduating seniors this year will get some insights into the world of entrepreneurship as the speaker for the event is Dan Whaley. A 1986 graduate of UHS, Mr. Whaley has creatively used the Internet in ways that have made a profound impact on our society.


Parking at Assembly Hall is $5, but there is no entry fee for the commencement ceremony. The public is welcome to attend.

Urbana Adult Education High School Graduation Ceremony

Urbana Adult Education will hold a high school diploma commencement on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in the Urbana High School Auditorium.


All students at Urbana Adult Education who completed their requirements for an Urbana High School Diploma during this school year are invited to participate in this cap and gown ceremony.


There will be speakers, entertainment, and refreshments served.

Pomp and Circumstance for GED Graduates

The Adult Education programs of Parkland College and Urbana School District 116 will host their annual GED Graduation Ceremony on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. in the Parkland College Theatre, 2400 W. Bradley Ave., Champaign.


This cap and gown ceremony includes all persons who passed the GED since last June at Parkland College, Urbana Adult Education, or the Champaign-Ford Regional Office of Education. Guests are welcome.


As a part of the program, there will be speakers and entertainment. Refreshments will be served immediately following the ceremony.

Official Groundbreaking Ceremony for The Urbana Tiger Athletic Complex

On Wednesday, April 20th, at 3:00 p.m., Urbana School District will be celebrating the Urbana Tiger Athletic Complex project currently in progress. During a brief ceremony, students, staff, parents, the Board of Education, and Community Members will be participating in a groundbreaking celebration.
