ZONING MAP AMENDMENT

The boundaries of the districts established in Section IV-1 of the Urbana Zoning Ordinance are established as shown on the "Official Zoning Map of Urbana, Illinois".  Periodically, amendments are made to the Zoning Map to change district boundary lines or to change the classification of land.  These amendments are reviewed by the Plan Commission and City Council and final determination of each amendment is made by the City Council. 

ZONING ORDINANCE TEXT AMENDMENT

The purpose of the Zoning Ordinance, applicable in the City of Urbana, Illinois, is to implement the policies of the City of Urbana as expressed in the 2005 Comprehensive Plan adopted by the City Council on April 11, 2005 and as it may be further amended from time to time, in accordance with the objective of Division 13, Article 11, Chapter 65 of the Illinois Compiled Statues (65 ILCS 5/11-13-1), and under the Home Rule Authority granted to the City of Urbana pursuant to Article VII, Section 6(a) of the Illinois Constitution of 1970.  Text amendments are reviewed by the Plan Commission and City Council and final determination of each amendment is made by the City Council.
