Backyard Composting Workshop

Join U-Cycle and the Urbana Park District for the 2nd annual backyard composting workshop! The workshop will explore the benefits of food scrap and landscape composting at home! Representatives from the City of Urbana and the Urbana Park District will discuss ways in which you can create your own backyard and vermi-compost bins, feed your garden's flowers and vegetables using compost, and highlight the types of compost available locally at the Landscape Recycling Center in Urbana. Snacks and door prizes will be available!

Join the Urbana Arts and Culture Program at Blackbird in Downtown Urbana for our 2019 SNEAK PEEK where we'll announce the 2019 Urbana Arts Grantees and showcase what's in store in our arts scene!
We will be presenting a public announcement of the 2019 grant winners in the program’s four categories: Tier I, Tier II, Tier III, Arts in the Schools, as well as announcing our first City of Urbana Poet Laureate.
All 2019 Urbana Arts Grants applicants will be notified of their grant status prior to the event.
Celebrating over 10 years, the Urbana Arts Grants Program supports projects taking place in Urbana that provide opportunities for all residents to engage with the arts in its many forms.

The next electronics recycling event will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2019, from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Registration details will be online in September 2019.
Acceptable items are listed on the registration website and include:
- TVs (limit 4),
- computers,
- monitors,
- networking equipment,
- video game consoles,
- DVD players,
- VCRs,
- mobile phones, and more!
Limit 7 electronic devices per household.

- Sunday March 17, 2019: Join the Urbana Business Association and Rewind 92.5 for the World's Shortest St. Patrick's Day Parade! The pre-party at Sipyard will run from 1 to 3 p.m. The parade will take place on Main Street from Race Street to Broadway Avenue beginning promptly at 2:45 p.m.

2019 Boneyard Creek Community Day

The 14th annual Boneyard Creek Community Day event is happening on Saturday, April 13, 2019. Boneyard Creek Community Day is a way to celebrate and protect our local waterways through cleanup and educational activities. Individuals of all ages can participate with work sites varying from projects in the creek to those more suitable for children.
Urbana will host one of the event's remote clean-up sites at Boneyard Creek Crossing at Griggs and Race Streets. Cleanup begins at 9 a.m. and ends at noon. After the clean-up activities, lunch will be served at Scott Park in Champaign, where there will also be music and interactive learning displays.
