Traffic laws apply to persons riding bicycles. Every person riding a bicycle upon a highway shall be granted all of the rights and shall be subject to all of the duties applicable to the driver of a vehicle by this Code… (625 ILCS 5/11 1502) Illinois Vehicle Code
Bicyclists are asked to walk their bicycles on the sidewalks in downtown Urbana. Downtown Urbana is defined as the area bounded by Illinois Street, Water Street, Urbana Avenue and Cedar Street. Bicycle riding is only permitted on the streets in that area.
