LWV Forum on Municipal Electric Aggregation

The public is encouraged to attend this forum on the Municipal Electric Aggregation referendum hosted by the League of Women Voters of Champaign County.


On March 20th, a referendum question will appear on the ballots for both Champaign and Urbana that asks whether each city should be able to purchase residential electricity at wholesale prices on behalf of its citizens.


The LWVCC is sponsoring this educational forum to present information and answer questions about the Municipal Electric Aggregation referendum. The event will be recorded and repeated on UPTV.


The LWVCC will also host a forum for Champaign on Monday, March 12th at 7:00 pm in the Champaign City Council Chambers, 102 N. Neil St.

2012 Urbana Basketball Camp

Urbana High School’s head boys basketball coach, Vashoune Russel, invites all elementary and middle school students to register for the 2012 Urbana Basketball Camp. While the camp’s focus is primarily Urbana students, students from outside of the district may also register.


The half-day camp will be held on Saturday, March 31 from 8:30-10:00am at the Urbana High School gymnasium. Coach Russell and staff will teach students the basics of basketball. Campers will work on ball handling, shooting, dribbling, footwork, and having fun.


Registration is $30 and includes one basketball and one t-shirt per student. To register, download and print the 2012 Urbana Basketball Camp Registration form and return to: Attn: UHS Boys Basketball, UHS 1002 S. Race St Urbana IL 61801. The deadline to sign up for camp is Tuesday, March 20th.

Evergreen Cooperatives: From Feasibility to Start Up

You’ve seen the amazing success of Common Ground Food Co-op! You’ve heard about our local Art Theater’s revitalization and efforts to become a co-op. Now come hear how Cleveland’s community has taken it one step further - creating jobs and economic strength through the Evergreen Co-ops!


The Evergreen Cooperatives are part of a collaborative project, managed by the Ohio Employee Ownership Center (OEOC). Roy Messing and Jim Anderson will be representing the OEOC, sharing the experience of taking a big idea vision, and making it a reality. The Evergreen Cooperatives are inspiring communities all over the nation to rethink what it means to do economic development and re-envision what it means to be a worker in the 21st century.

Municipal Electric Aggregation

On March 20, 2012, voters in Champaign & Urbana chose to establish Municipal Electric Aggregation programs in their individual communities.


Municipal Electric Aggregation programs allow a community the option of buying bulk electricity for its residents.
