Contractor's Breakfast

The cities of Urbana, Champaign, Rantoul and Champaign County invite General Contractors and Sub-Contractors interested in participating in their various Housing Rehabilitation Programs to attend a free informational breakfast meeting on February 24, 2017 starting at 7:30am, El Toro, 2561 West Springfield Avenue, Champaign.

First Friday Valentine’s Day Warm-up with John McMahon & Alyssa Gambill

Joining us will be local duo John McMahon and Alyssa Gambill who will share their unique blend of acoustic rock and folk, with a few Beatles tunes thrown into the mix. Stop by to enjoy the music and to make something creative for your sweetie (or yourself!) for Valentine’s Day.

Urbana Stormwater Public Meeting

Announcing the first annual Urbana Stormwater Public Meeting!

Urbana residents are invited to join the City of Urbana Engineering Staff for a discussion on urban stormwater management and the City's NPDES permit for Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4).  Discussion topics will include:

  • Minimum Control Measures for the Stormwater Management Program
  • Annual NPDES Phase II Stormwater Report
  • Public Input regarding Stormwater Management

We want to hear from you!  Bring a friend, family member, or neighbor.  We will be happy to answer as many questions as we can regarding the City's storm sewer system and our efforts to keep the waters in our community as clean and healthy as possible.  Stop by any time between 5:30pm and 6:30pm at the Urbana Civic Center, located at 108 E. Water Street in Urbana.

UPTV to Broadcast MLK Celebration

Urbana Public Television partnered with the City of Champaign's CGTV to produce video of the 16th Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Countywide Celebration.  The event was held at Parkland College on Friday, January 13th and post-produced by UPTV staff over the weekend.  Lucia Maldonado, Stone Creek Church and the Dr. Ellis Drive 6 were all recognized for their contributions to our community during the event.  The keynote address was delivered by Professor Christopher Benson.

The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration will be shown on UPTV on Monday, January 16th (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day) at the following times:  10:00AM, 11:00AM, 12:00PM, 7:00PM, 8:00PM, 9:00PM, 10:00PM and 11:00PM.

This month's edition of It's All About U features a visit to Attie's Bar and Grill where hosts Natalie KennyMarquez and Sterling Bollman "Think Urbana" with Brandon Boys and Spencer Atkins.  They also relax at Urbana Acupuncture and chat with The Product Manufactory's Ben Barnes.  Sterling and Natalie round off this month's show with a trip to Strawberry Fields.

Market at the Square Pre-Season Meeting

All returning and potential vendors and community groups are encouraged to attend the 2017 Market at the Square pre-season meeting.

  • 3-5 p.m.
  • Urbana Civic Center, 108 West Water Street

The meeting will offer returning and potential participants the chance to learn about business marketing, how to create effective market displays, get the scoop on local market research and trends, and learn more about updates and changes to the 2017 season of Urbana's Market at the Square. There will also be time for questions and networking. There is no fee to participate in this event and anyone interested in participating in the 2017 is strongly encouraged to attend.

Applications for the 2017 season will be available here beginning February 1st.

Boneyard Creek Community Day - 2017

The 12th annual Boneyard Creek Community Day event is happening on Saturday, April 29, 2017. Boneyard Creek Community Day is a way to celebrate and protect our local waterways through cleanup and educational activities.  Individuals of all ages can participate with work sites varying from projects in the creek to those more suitable for children.

Urbana will host one of the event's remote clean-up sites at Boneyard Creek Crossing at Griggs and Race Streets.   Cleanup begins at 9 a.m. and ends at noon. After the clean-up activities, lunch will be served at Scott Park in Champaign, where there will also be music and interactive learning displays.

'Tis the season for CRAFTING and SINGING.

At 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 10, come make some easy holiday gifts that your friends and family will love at DIY Holiday Gifts. After your hard work, you can have a holiday snack and get in the holiday spirit with a performance at 3:00 PM by the Urbana High A Cappella groups—Vocal Chords Required (VCR) and Vocal Harmonies Supplied (VHS). VCR and VHS will perform a number of holiday classics and more.
