Central Avenue from Griggs Street to Main Street and Locust Street from Central Avenue to Wood Street will be closed to through traffic on Saturday, May 17, 2014 from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. for the Canaan Academy Annual Spring Carnival. Willow Road will be fully opened to the public at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, June 9, 2014. The contractor for this project is Open Road Paving from Urbana, Illinois. The project consists of the reconstruction of Willow Road from Country Club Road to just south of Willow Court. The proposed work will entail the removal of the existing pavement to allow for placement of a new hot-mix asphalt pavement.

Beginning Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 7:00 a.m. there will be a traffic switch on High Cross Road where the north and southbound travel lanes will switch to the newly paved lanes on the west half of the roadway. The east half of the existing pavement will be closed until further notice for road work and widening. Also, the east and westbound traffic on University Avenue at the High Cross Road intersection will switch travel lanes to allow for roadway work and widening on the north half of the pavement.

The City’s Contractor, O’Neil Brothers will be using a crane for constructing a wall on the northeast corner of the Race Street Bridge as part of the Boneyard Creek Improvements Project. North Race Street between the railroad tracks and bridge over the Boneyard Creek will be closed to through traffic beginning on Monday May, 5 2014 from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., weather permitting in order to accommodate the movement and placement of the crane.

Weather permitting, Washington Street from Birch Street to Cedar Street will be closed to thru traffic from 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2014 to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 for Duce Construction to perform a sewer line repair. All residents along Washington Street will have access to their property. Your patience is appreciated while this work is underway.
