The City of Urbana is seeking proposals from a qualified Consultant Service to assist Facilities Management staff in the evaluation of the condition of roofs at various municipal facilities and to prepare and administer project management services during any approved replacement program.
Proposals will be accepted at the Public Works Department, 706 South Glover Avenue, Urbana, Illinois, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Proposals will be accepted up to and no later than 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2014.

Griggs Street between Wood Street and Central Avenue will be closed from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2014 for an Urbana Legacy Tree Dedication. Residents will have access to their driveways during this road closure; no detour is planned.

The City of Urbana has contracted with Corrective Asphalt Materials, LLC to place a surface seal on newly improved asphalt pavements that is intended to help the City extend the life of our pavements. Surface seal will be placed on the following streets throughout the City of Urbana:

A private property tree nominated by its owner has been selected as the City of Urbana’s first living Legacy Tree as part of a new city program. The bur oak at 301 Griggs St., estimated to be about 150 years old, will be recognized with the special designation in a public ceremony at noon Thursday, Oct. 9, at the tree site. The oak is a remnant of the original Big Grove, documented by the Federal Land Survey between 1804 and 1891.

The Urbana High School Homecoming Parade will take place on Friday, October 3, 2014. Race Street from Michigan Avenue to Iowa Street will be closed to through traffic beginning at 1:00 p.m. through the start of the parade at 3:00 p.m. The parade will end at approximately 4:00 p.m.
Traffic along the parade route will only be obstructed for the short time it takes for the parade to clear the area. Due to construction on Race Street, the parade will follow a new route this year. This route is as follows:
